TRAM is a statewide nonprofit association of independent and competing businesses established by a few dedicated men and women who have realized that one company could do little to alter the direction of their industry or to change any inequities that may arise.
TRAM was formed to provide a means of unified effort in the solution of problems and the administering of such action that may be deemed necessary towards the progress of our industry.
Through our leadership, we have had the organizational capabilities to be an effective force towards the betterment of the towing industry, although we have lacked the numbers and the financial resources to truly be 100% capable of reaching our goals.
To further the progress of our organization we need your support. The more unified we become, the more successful we will be. Membership does not cost – it pays. Our various programs have, in most cases, have resulted in savings to our members. We are confident that you and your business could also benefit from them.
Now is the time to assist your industry while helping yourself. Join TRAM – we need your support.
The Towing and Recovery Association was founded in 1988 when twelve dedicated professional towing operators determined that it was time to “unify towing and recovery practices in Maine” and attempt to eliminate business practices within the industry that were not in the best interest of motoring public and create a bad image of the legal business of towing and recovery operations. Within two months, this group was incorporated as TRAM and our membership drive had begun. Officers were elected and committees were appointed. TRAM has since been a viable trade association.
The Towing and Recovery Association of Maine publishes regular news bulletins in order to keep the membership informed.
Government relations are a vital and ongoing interest of TRAM through a legislative committee, we support state and federal legislation of benefit to the public and members, and maintain regular contact with key legislators and work closely with various state agencies in the interest ot the towing and recovery industry throughout Maine.
TRAM sponsors and supports towing and recovery driver training schools throughout Maine in order to provide professionally trained and equipped service requested by law enforcement agencies and the public of Maine. Our goal is to provide professional, certified response to requests for help at the scene of an accident or other motoring needs. It is expected that all state and local agencies will require that all tow truck drivers will be certified as professionals. This is already in force by some local agencies to date.
